A very BIG Congratulations to to Lin who was also a winner of the gigantic Christmas Donkey – likewise called Dylan! They are twins you know ….

lin christmas donkey winner 2013

Lin tells us that Dylan has settled in very well and is now house trained.  He is a very contented donkey and he was thrilled to hear from Lin that Donkeys are for life (not just for Christmas).

Thanks for sending the picture in Lin, we are so glad you won him.

For anyone who didnt get to see the 5 Star Severn Bore yesterday, here is a BBC vid filmed at Minsterworth (which is near Gloucester for you non-locals!). Me and my daughter got up to see the bore on Sunday morning only to arrive and discovered we had missed it! Hey ho – there’s another one coming.

Oooooo its getting tense here in our telesales office!

Maxie is trying to kick the habit (smoking that is!). She has managed to cut down to a miniscule 2 per day and she is all patched up and determined to give up smoking for good.

I asked her what her top tip was and she said to give up alcohol as well.
OMG what a brave girl.

So if youre phoning in your office supplies order please be kind to her. :)

…. and if you could leave her a comment and words of support please below to keep up the great work, that would be fab too!

We have some AMAZING office stationery ideas for Christmas!

Now I know most of us sigh heavily at the thought of buying those difficult gifts for those awkward friends and relatives but OfficeStar have some really creative ideas to help the chore become easy!

How about a recycled mouse mat with an image of sunnier days for the eco friendly daughter, or a lockable leather five year diary for your teenage grandaughter. Do chess setyour parents or grandparents play cribbage, chess or poker?

Well if they do, how about a leather cased travel set with their favourite game in? If you are finding a gift for mum a problem, what about a really funky pin board to brighten up the kitchen?

Local offer supplies have Free Delivery. Local deliveries within Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Monmouth, Ross, Newport, Chepstow are made to you free of charge. Forest of Dean Sheep are a bit like Marmite – you either love them or hate them.

Before Foot and Mouth when all the Forest sheep were burnt on Pyres I never had much affection for the wooley things I have to admit. But after this horrific event, the Forest seemed so empty without them and as they gradually returned to graze I started to have some respect and attraction for the little blighters as they all seem to have different characters.

Now every morning driving on my way to work, I try and spot my “sheep of the day”.  This morning it was a sheep laid by the side of the road against the bank, hardly lifting his head to eat the juicy grass. He looked like the happiest and most contented sheep ever, munching away. I think I will call him Dylan as he reminded me of Dylan from the Magic Roundabout (O gosh I’m showing my age). I am expecting to see him on my way back home twice the size where he has just been sat in the same place all day without moving. Alright for some eh?.

Yesterday morning I saw “camouflage sheep”. He was at the back of a herd of other sheep, stalking them in his camouflage outfit of a whole bramble bush (complete with blackberries!)

Perhaps our company logo should be a sheep rather than a star – but I suppose that would make us office sheep rather than office star and that would just be weird?

They are definately an integral part of the Forest of Dean, unlike the wild Boar – but thats another subject.

Steel Filing Cabinets

Filing Cabinets really havent changed much in one hundered years or so apart from the fact that the quality ones are now made of steel (rather than wood) and that they are available in funky colours such as neon orange, yellow and lime green now.
But I think we would all agree, we couldnt organise our paperwork quite so efficiently without them.

We have an extensive range of that would suit a home environment, hotel, guest103190 house or an office. From a single draw unit to a 15 or more draw cabinet we really have something to suit everyone.

We are thrilled to be part of the new initiative the 5 Star Charitable Trust which supports local communities and charities throughout the UK and Ireland.

This trust is funded by the sale of the 5 Star™ Office Supplies branded products and then donated to nominated local community charities.
By doing this our customers can donate money to local charities whilst purchasing their 5 Star™ Office Supplies which has a range of over 1400 products across the majority of our category ranges.

The 5 Star™ Chaitable Trust is a registered charity (number 1151151). The appointed board of trustees decide independently exactly which charities will benefit from the fund and how much each beneficiary will receive.
Beneficiaries of the trust will be registered local charities across the UK and Ireland. These will be selected annually from nominations from our customers, partners and any direct nominations from registered charities themselves.

If you would like to nominate a charity please visit or website at www.officestar-group.co.uk/5-star-charitable-trust

We hope that together we can support our local communities and improve the lives of those that need it.

The OfficeStar Team

I dont want to go all romantic on you all, but the beauty of the Forest of Dean never ceases to amaze me!

I went for a walk down to Lydney docks yesterday evening with a friend. The sun was shining, which always helps, but even in the depths of winter its a wonderful place.

Anyway we were sat chatting on a bench by the side of the River Severn, just chewing the cud like you do enjoying the stillness. We heard a flock of geese noisely honking as they flew in from our right. There must have been about forty I suppose and all flying single file in a straight line. I thought they were coming down to land on the water as it looked like their little legs were running but the funny thing was they just continued up the length of the river as far as we could see, running about 30cm above the top of the water. A most amusing sight.

Now if I had one of these new fan dangled phones (rather than my trusty old £30 Nokia), I could have taken a photo for you, but thats another story! So Ive borrowed a photo for those of you who havent seen Lydney docks before.

Im off now back to the world of Office Stationery! TTFN :)
